MITA Group alongside UNHCR for Myanmar Earthquake Victims

MITA Group Impresa Speciale UNHCR 2025

Last April, MITA Group supported the humanitarian efforts of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, with a donation intended to address the earthquake emergency that struck Myanmar in late March. The contribution helped provide basic necessities and temporary housing solutions to thousands of people already tested by years of conflict and forced displacement.

On World Refugee Day (June 20th), MITA Group received official recognition from UNHCR as a Special Enterprise, a title reserved for companies that integrate ethical values and ESG criteria into their strategy, contributing to the Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck six regions in central Myanmar, exacerbating an already deep humanitarian crisis: according to UNHCR, some 2.1 million internally displaced people were in the very areas affected. Thanks in part to the support of donor companies, UNHCR was able to provide emergency kits to more than 58,000 people, help 7,500 families rebuild temporary housing, and bring relief to remote areas such as Mandalay, Sagaing, and Nay Pyi Taw. At a time when global humanitarian funds are in steep decline, private sector support becomes crucial.

MITA Group, an industrial entity active in industrial cooling sectors through companies such as MITA Cooling Technologies, Frigofluid and TORRAVAL Cooling, believes that business can and should contribute positively to the sustainable development of society.
